Volunteering

The Babeș-Bolyai University Archives, in cooperation with the Volunteer Office, launched the Volunteer at the BBU Archive program on March 1, 2022. This program aims to support students from the Faculty of History and Philosophy by providing them with a framework for undertaking activities specific to their field of study and to acquire skills that will be useful in their training as historians or archivists. The mentors and students participating in this program are motivated by their passion for the past and its testimonies preserved on paper.

Our aim is to supplement the theoretical knowledge acquired by students through attending courses at the Faculty of History with practical experience, which, in our opinion, is the ideal method for training specialists.

Students’ participation in this volunteer program undoubtedly contributes to their personal development, making it a valuable asset to themselves and their future. Our role as mentors, coordinating their activities, is essential. Firstly, through individual counseling, we can support them in acquiring the necessary skills for the archivist profession. Secondly, by providing them with an environment conducive to learning, we encourage them to interact with one another and acquire the skills necessary for effective teamwork.

The certificates received at the end of the volunteer internship, issued by the BBU Volunteer Office, have proven to be of real use to graduates of the Faculty of History and Philosophy, enabling them to apply for positions in the respective field, subject to experience.
