In 2020, a project was launched to digitize the historical archive of Babeș-Bolyai University, for which the DocuShare application was purchased and adapted to the needs of a historical archive. To implement the project in its pilot phase, it was decided to digitize the Botanical Garden Fonds. The digitization process was structured into two stages: the first, corresponding to the period 1919–1929, and the second, to the period 1930–1939. The first of the two stages, which consisted of archival sorting and inventorying, document digitization, and entry into the DocuShare application along with relevant metadata, was completed by the end of 2023. Over 2,600 archival units have been digitized and are available in the project application. Phase 2 is currently being implemented and is expected to be completed in 2025, when over 2,600 additional archival units from the Botanical Garden Fonds dating from 1930 to 1939 will be fully digitized and made available in the project application.
